About us
SimonTowler & Associates is the trading name of Simon Towler, an independent marketing consultant specializing in the UK photography industry.
We're based in London, England.

We're communicators. We write business and technical journalism for photographic magazines and online publications. For companies in the photo industry, we write advertorials and issue press releases. We also do PR photography. And we design and develop websites.

Our client list is short and surprising. It includes award-winning individual photographers, as well as major players in the photo industry (camera, lighting and accessory manufacturers), plus magazine publishers and other agencies.
We mostly work for old friends. New clients come to us on the recommendation of existing ones. That's how we find new business. We don't do anything more.

SimonTowler can call on the services of a network of friends from a wide range of disciplines and assemble them into project teams for clients on a campaign-by-campaign basis.

SimonTowler & Associates is mostly run by just Simon himself, trading as us.
Simon spent fifteen years journeying through London's media and creative industries, working in periodical publishing, illustrated book publishing, and advertising, in both the City and the West End, gaining friends and contacts along the way.
He worked in Ireland for nine months in the mid '90s with American artist James Turrell, retouched images at Katherine Hamnett's side in Shoreditch, then went to work in North West London with the late publisher Frances Lincoln. He later did jobs for several years for former Harpers and Queen Editor, Willie Landels (who has commissioned photographers Helmut Newton, Guy Bordin, David Bailey, Donovan and Duffy), and spent three years with the Omnicom financial advertising agency, Doremus.
Simon originally studied Business and IT at the Cork Institute of Technology, then took Accounting and Economics classes by night. He learned photo technical and graphic arts technical management on-the-job in London, for clients including the publishers EMAP, Readers Digest and Macmillan. In more recent years he studied Web Application Development at the Open University.
He's an OU alumnus, and a past-pupil of Ashton School, in Cork.
